Professional Certificate in Wound Management
In conjunction with the University of South Australia, Thompson Health Care employees are offered this certificate at a discounted rate (13 students will be reimbursed the total course cost). The course is completed by distance education and in order to support the students Thompson Health Care has arranged for a computer training course and on-site training days with the University Professor of the course, free of charge to all students.
Basic Dementia Training
In order to further assist the increasing number of residents who suffer from Dementia, Thompson Health Care is offering all staff the opportunity to complete a 3 day Dementia Training Course offered by Bob Price through Alzheimer Education. The course cost and the staff members time, will be all paid for by Thompson Health Care.
Basic Computer Training Course
This course is aimed at assisting staff members who are required to use the computer or for staff members undertaking courses on-line.
Certificate III in Aged Care
Over 50 Assistants in Nursing are recently completed their Certificate III in Aged Care. Courses are conducted through-out the year and traineeships are available.
Certificate IV in Aged Care
Thompson Health Care has recently received funding from the Department of Health and Ageing to provide the Certificate IV in Aged Care to existing staff members. Courses will start in the first term of 2006.
Management Training
All staff required to perform management functions (inc. DONs, DDONs, ADONs, RNs, EENs, Head Chefs, Housekeeping Supervisors etc) are offered management training courses specific to their needs (on and off site courses are offered).
External Courses
Specific knowledge and skills upgrading courses are sponsored from time to time on a needs basis.
