When Faith and Wal Thompson established the first nursing home in 1965, their goal was to create a new standard of excellence in aged care accommodation and resident care. That commitment to excellence is now maintained by three generations of Thompsons.
Our twelve Aged Care Homes stretch from Bowral in the Southern Highlands, throughout the Sydney Region and to Kempsey on the mid-north coast, Thompson Health Care is a family owned and operated company with over four decades of experience.

Doug Thompson has managed the group for more than 40 years, maintaining and enhancing this reputation for excellence. Doug has a passion for providing our residents with a beautiful place to stay, whilst taking care of every comfort – ‘Residents do not live in our facilities, we work in their homes’.
Jill Rodgers is a Director of Thompson Health Care. Jill oversees the day-to-day running of all the nursing homes, supporting management and staff alike.
Doug’s three daughters have each continued the family tradition of care, contributing their individual professional skills. Sonia, a Registered Nurse, is Thompson Health Care’s Clinical Assessment Manager. Deborah, a Psychologist, is our Human Resources Manager. Deborah oversees the management of our valued employees, developing programs to attract and retain the best staff. Kate is the Communications Manager at Thompson Healthcare.

We Cannot thank you enough for all your help. You took the burden off our shoulders helping us navigate through all the paperwork and just “being there” at a time when relatives feel so vulnerable was wonderful. Many thanks for making a potentially difficult time a positive experience for all of us. Your care, commitment and friendly approach was greatly valued by mum and ourselves. Moving mum into aged care was a difficult decision but now I am so pleased and relieved to see her so happy receiving the best of care. We know it is the best place we could have chosen

Now that the events surrounding Dad’s passing are largely behind us it is a time for reflection on his life the times that we shared and those people who were important in his life.
As we do so, we are aware of the importance of the team at Turramurra House who cared for him so well and with such kindness for 3 ½ years that he lived with you. Dad was treated with great courtesy always by name truly living up to your motto that “Residents do not live in our facility, we work in their homes”
There are too many over the time, to be able to thank them individually and I would ask that you would thank them all on my behalf.
Particularly I would like to thank those who looked after both Dad and the Family in his final few days and nights.
